How much difference to gpu's make for us?

Hey all.

There exists a system that is capable of takigan agp (I know I know, a bit old isn't it) 8x card but currently contains a 4x one.
4x runs at 266mhz and can support 1gbps where as 8x runs at 533 and can support 2 but what I want to know is if the difference in speed of the card, bandwidth and the speed of memory on the card will actually make a difference for day to day tasks for blind people?
I know that I could just swap the card for a faster one, but its going to be a big card in a very very matx case, so i'd rather someone vouch for the speed increase before I try.

Thats about it really, thoughts are welcome.

well it all depends on the apps you are running .. i believe unless the app is written to use the gpu for processing as well you wont really notice much of a performance increase unless you are running something extremely graphic intensive. I don't know that jaws and or other screen readers or magnifiers really need all that much power from the graphics card though.

Since you stated that your box is a tiny MATX, the first question is adiquate cooling. Right now, i am running a shuttle with a 9400gt nvidia 512 mb agp and its pushing at about 78c degrees. I previous had a pci wireless g right next to it, but even with its onboard fan, the heat gets trapped and the temp raises to over 90c locking up my whole system.
However, the graphics is great. especially on WoW, the images are much smoother. You don't get that slight jerkyness as you do on one with half that potential. So if you plan to play games that require such intensive graphics rendering, I'd stay with the lower card.

Make sure that you have nothing impeding the air flow from the card.I'd leave at least one slot in front of it empty.
